Review: Herculist Plus

This is a review of Herculist Plus on Free subscription. As I search for free sources of traffic I stumbled upon a suggestion on using Herculist Plus.

As a beginner to marketing there could be a lot of factors that I might overlook on this first review but for now these are the angles we’ll be examining.

Let’s dive in.

What is Herculist?

Herculist is a “safelist” or “mailer-site”. It offers an affordable internet marketing solution for a database of people who give permission to email them with different offers.

They offer a variety of advertising services to their members which includes: Solo Ads, Email Blaster, Hercublurbs among others things. Apart from that, it is also an affiliate program that pays from 35% on free membership up to 50% on Gold membership on all referral membership payments.

As a HercuList member, you will be able to advertise your legal, non porn/adult material related website, system, program, product or service to a targeted audience of thousands of REAL people. Through our integrated email optin list, theZONE site surfing, and HercBlurb systems, HercuList PLUS takes email and internet marketing to the next level. HercuList also includes an optional affiliate program, so you can start earning extra income right away.

My Thoughts…

First of all, I struggle with the notion of advertising to other advertisers as each member promotes to each other. Apart from that as a free member you will receive a lot of email everyday from other members that it had been advised to create a separate email account by those that promote this site.

As a free member you’ll be able to submit on a daily plain text email/web ad to 1000 random members. But as mentioned earlier some could be using a separate email to receive other members promotion so open rate might not be that high.

The Experience…

To test the site I sent two types of email swipes for 14 consecutive days but as it was my first campaign and usage of the site there were quite a number of hiccups. Firstly, I wasn’t aware of Herculist time zone which resulted on missing one day. Secondly, as my account was a free membership there’s no option to personalize the email namely creating link text.

Once I got familiarized with the site though it improved the results a bit but as it’s only able to send to 1000 random members there’s only 1% expected click rate. The timing and the email swipe contributed to it as well.

However, after a week on the site the tolerance on the site performance was dipping tremendously.

Apart from the page load being extremely slow the security of the site is quite questionable. Because security is a significant factor on web safety this lowers the trust and getting McAffee alerts didn’t give it any better standing. More on the security, the password in the account setting isn’t even masked.

The test…

Let’s get into the campaign itself. The clickbank offer I chose was Click Wealth System using two email swipes from their affiliate page.

On the first day I’d have to discount about half the click as clickbank counted the tests I did to check on the affiliate link. For the first week I have been sending the mail in the morning but I noticed that sending email at night garnered better results.

After two weeks there was a total of 199 clicks but no sales.

Final Thoughts

Although the data was limited as the review was only conducted for two weeks with one affiliate offer on a free subscription, I was not convinced to continue. Though I did consider purchasing the paid version but with the questionable security and the site speed I was quickly dissuaded. Not to mention, my main objective was for free traffic and this did not fit the requirement from my standpoint. So, unless I’m otherwise convinced that this could be profitable I’ll be passing on this offer.
